Chris Offutt, born August 24, 1958 in Lexington, Kentucky, USA, is an author and screenwriter. He is a writer for Treme. He wrote the teleplay for the third season episode "Careless Love" based on a story he co-wrote with Executive Producer George Pelecanos. He has also worked on the HBO drama True Blood and the Showtime series Weeds. He was an Executive Story Editor for the first season of True Blood in 2008. His published works include Kentucky Straight (1992), The Same River Twice (1993), The Good Brother (1997), Out of the Woods (1999), and No Heroes: A Memoir of Coming Home (2002).
