Anthony Hemingway is an American motion picture producer and director. He is a producer and director for Treme. He has worked on the first and second seasons. He has also worked with co-creator David Simon on his earlier series The Corner and The Wire. He has also directed episodes of the series CSI: NY, True Blood, and The Closer. Before becoming a director he worked extensively as an assistant director in television and film. In 2012, Hemingway's first feature film Red Tails, produced by George Lucas, was released

Career[]
Hemingway began working in the industry on Tom Fontana's HBO prison drama Oz as an assistant director. He later worked with Fontana on The Jury.
He first worked with director/producer Joe Chappelle on the 2000 film Takedown and has since collaborated with him on The Wire and CSI: NY.
He first worked with Samuel L. Jackson as assistant director on the 2002 film Changing Lanes.
For The Wire Hemingway served as the first assistant director on several episodes in the first season and throughout the second and third season. He returned in 2006 as a director for the seventh episode of the fourth season "Unto Others". Showrunner David Simon said that Hemingway's directing debut proved what they already knew, "that it was time." The experience has led to directing work on several other series for Hemingway.
He was the first assistant director on the film Freedomland in 2006 which was written by The Wire writer Richard Price and featured several cast members from that show alongside Samuel L. Jackson.
He was a Producer for the first season of Treme in 2010. He helmed the fourth episode "At the Foot of Canal Street" and the eighth episode "All On a Mardi Gras Day". He was promoted to Supervising Producer for the second season in 2011 and directed the premiere "Accentuate the Positive".
In summer 2011, he joined the crew of the first season of the Steven Spielberg alien-invasion drama Falling Skies. He served as an episodic director for the show, helming the eighth episode "What Hides Beneath".
In 2012, Hemingway's first feature film Red Tails, produced by George Lucas was released.
