Derrick Freeman is the drummer for Kermit Ruffins band, The Barbeque Swingers. Derrick is drinking with Kermit prior to his regular gig at Vaughn's when Antoine Batiste visits.

He initially appears uncredited in the pilot episode "Do You Know What It Means" before becoming a guest star with the second episode "Meet De Boys on the Battlefront".
